The GLNP Habitat network model maps are based on methodology developed by Natural England. Network models are available for each Priority habitat. Two 'zones' are produced for each Priority habitat: 1) the Network Enhancement Zone; this shows where action can be targeted to expand and reinforce the existing networks and 2) the Network Expansion Zone; this shows where action can be targeted to improve connections between the different the individual networks.
Areas that are of particular importance for biodiversity
Priority 26 Action 62
Graze saltmarsh at suitable levels for breeding birds, particularly redshank. Based on GLNP Saltmarsh Priority habitat data.
Priority 26 Action 63
Dynamic management of sand dune ponds to maintain natterjack toad populations. Based on GLNP Sand dune Priority habitat data that coincides with natterjack toad presence.
Priority 26 Action 64
Manage sand dunes by controlling scrub, extending bare ground and appropriate grazing to maintain structural diversity. Based on GLNP Sand dune Priority habitat data.
Priority 26 Action 65
Manage saline lagoons for breeding, migrating and wintering birds, and invertebrates such as Lagoon sand shrimp by reducing nutrient inputs and ensuring regular seawater exchange. Based on GLNP Saline lagoon Priority habitat data.
Priority 29 Action 69
Maintain extent of grazing on sea banks to support invertebrates and plants. Based on the Environment Agency dataset AIMS Spatial Flood Defences (inc. standardised attributes) filtered to "protection"='Coastal' and "asset_sub_"='Embankment' and buffered by 25m.
Priority 29 Action 70
Enhance nest site opportunities for Sea aster mining bee. Based on the Environment Agency dataset AIMS Spatial Flood Defences (inc. standardised attributes) filtered to "protection"='Coastal' and "asset_sub_"='Embankment' and buffered by 25m.
