The GLNP Habitat network model maps are based on methodology developed by Natural England. Network models are available for each Priority habitat. Two 'zones' are produced for each Priority habitat: 1) the Network Enhancement Zone; this shows where action can be targeted to expand and reinforce the existing networks and 2) the Network Expansion Zone; this shows where action can be targeted to improve connections between the different the individual networks.
Enable rivers to reconnect with floodplains in appropriate places, for example, by removal of flood banks. Based on the Environment Agency WWNP Floodplain Reconnection Potential dataset.
Priority 30 Action 73
Improve habitat connectivity along rivers by removing weirs, dams and redundant culverts to allow easier movement of fish and invertebrates. Based on the Environment Agency River Obstacles dataset.
Priority 31 Action 77
Reduce nutrient and sediment run-off by creating habitat buffers along rivers, streams and connected water courses to improve water quality. Based on WWNP Runoff Attenuation Features 3.3% AEP dataset, filtered to "raf_type" = 'Run-off Attenuation'.
Priority 32 Action 80
Enable streams and becks to reconnect with floodplains in appropriate places, for example by removal of flood banks. Based on the WWNP Floodplain Reconnection Potential limited to the chalk streams and limestone beck areas.
Priority 32 Action 81
Improve habitat connectivity along streams and becks by removing weirs, dams and redundant culverts to allow easier movement of fish and invertebrates. Based on the Environment Agency River Obstacles dataset that intersect with Natural England's Chalk Rivers (England) dataset and limestone becks.
Priority 33 Action 77
Reduce nutrient and sediment inputs by creating habitat buffers along rivers, streams and connected water courses to improve water quality. Based on Environment Agency WWNP Runoff Attenuation Features 3.3% AEP dataset, filtered to "raf_type" = 'Run-off Attenuation' within 100m of Natural England's Chalk Rivers (England) dataset and and limestone becks.
